Captify Pro is built to help you follow conversations even in loud, crowded, or chaotic settings. Here's how to get the most accurate captions when background noise is present.
1. Use On-Glass Directional Microphones
Captify Pro includes directional microphones built directly into the glasses, optimized to pick up speech in front of you and minimize surrounding noise.
- In the Captify app, go to Settings → Audio Source and select “On-glass microphones.”
2. Use Phone Microphone for Remote Pickup
If the speaker is far away or you're in an especially loud environment, you can switch to your phone’s microphone for better pickup:
- Go to Settings → Audio Source and select “Phone microphone.”
- Keep your phone close to the person speaking (on a table or clipped nearby).
- Make sure you stay within Bluetooth range of your phone (about 30 feet indoors).
3. Face the Person Speaking
- Positioning matters—Captify’s directional mics work best when the speaker is in front of you.
- If you’re having trouble, angle your head slightly toward the speaker.
4. Use the Online Captioning Model
- The online captioning model provides the most accurate results in environments with complex or layered audio.
- To enable it, go to Settings → Captioning Model and choose “Online (High Accuracy)”.
5. Enable Environmental Sound Detection
This optional setting allows your glasses to recognize important non-speech sounds like:
- Doorbells
- Sirens
- Laughter or applause
To turn it on, go to Settings → Environmental Sound Detection in the app.
6. Adjust Caption Display Settings
- Lowering caption brightness can improve contrast and reduce distraction in bright environments.
- Use Settings → Caption Timeout to control how long captions stay on screen after speech ends.
